CEHAP – Development of the Polish Children Environment and Health Action Plan

Within the realization of the CEHAP project (2010–2011) a document has been drawn up. The document is an attempt to categorize  actions taken for the sake of  environmental health of children basing on the type of available facts / evidence certifying their effectiveness.  The classification, established by the Secretariat of World Health Organization in cooperation with 8 independent experts, includes  actions concerning four Regional Priority Goals (RPGs):

– Goal 1 (RPG 1) – the access to safe fresh water and maintaining suitable sanitary conditions in the environment of one’s residence.
– Goal 2 (RPG 2) – reducing health consequences of accidents and injuries and reinforcing physical activity.
– Goal 3 (RPG 3) – preventing and reducing the incidence of breathing system diseases due to air pollution inside and outside premises.
– Goal 4 (RPG 4) – reducing the risk from hazardous effects of chemical, physical and biological factors, as well as hazardous working conditions of pregnant women, children and adolescents.

In case of each goal a short diagnosis as well as current and planned actions were presented. Four sectional goals were formulated concerning:  monitoring, socio-economic inequalities, climate change and participation of children and young people.
